Xvide: Twitter’s decision to rebrand itself as “X” has generated a buzz on social media, with many drawing comparisons to the adult video streaming site, ‘Xvideos’. Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has also made light of the situation, joking about potential changes to other elements of the platform’s branding.
The rebranding announcement by Musk over the weekend led to ‘Xvideos’ trending on Twitter, as users pointed out the amusing coincidence that Twitter videos would technically be referred to as “X videos” under the new branding.
Even ‘Xvideos itself acknowledged the trend on its Twitter account, expressing thanks to Musk for the attention.
While Musk hasn’t commented directly on this branding similarity, he did respond humorously when asked about the new name for Twitter Blue, saying, “Balls. Just … Balls.”
Xvide: In a playful manner, Musk also suggested that the term “tweets” might be replaced with “X’s” after the rebrand is complete.
This unexpected move by Musk involved Twitter shedding its iconic bird logo and adopting the simple name “X,” which aligns with the name of the platform’s parent company, X Corp. The transition began with the website X.com redirecting to Twitter’s homepage. The blue bird logo was replaced by a stylized white X logo on a black background on Twitter’s homepage and official account.
The rebranding to “X” is part of Musk’s long-term vision to transform Twitter into an “everything app,” and it has certainly sparked interesting discussions and comparisons on the platform.
